Insuranceprovides coverage of up to $5,000 for merchandise that is lost, damaged, or with missing contents in the custody of the United States Postal Service®. (Registered Mail™ with insurance has a liability limit of $50,000.) Customers can purchase insurance at a local Post Office™ or online. Online labels also include USPS Tracking® service, so customers can check their delivery status online.

Insurance may include scan information if it was purchased for a mail class that includes USPS Tracking®.
Insurance may only be purchased at one source for each insured mailpiece. For example:
Insurance purchased online cannot be supplemented with insurance purchased at a Post Office® or self-service kiosk.
Insurance purchased at a self-service kiosk cannot be supplemented with insurance purchased online or at a retail Post Office.

Signature Confirmation™ and Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery (if insured for less than or equal to $500)

Insurance Restricted Delivery provides all the services that Insurance provides. In addition, customers opting for Insurance Restricted Delivery service can direct delivery of mail insured for more than $500 only to the addressee (or addressee’s authorized agent).
